It all started in 2004 after spending a few months in Montreal, Canada – Maple tree country!  Mel decided she’d had enough of her job and the cold weather (even if she?s the one who dragged Les over there!), so Les started looking for opportunities to start a business in Australia.

They met with Max Dufour (Pro Vert skater and Owner of Woodchuck Inc.) who was looking for a new distributor in Australia. Mel and Les saw a great opportunity to create a new breed of Distribution Company based on positive values and intentions.

At Head First, our goal is to contribute to the development of skateboarding in Australia and provide quality products. We deal exclusively with companies who have the same philosophy and have made a commitment to support Australian skateboarding. All our brands come from companies owned and operated by skateboarders.
